Arlene Farenci is an abstract painter and printmaker whose work is defined by movement and spontaneity. Her paintings and prints—whether created with acrylics, inks, monotype, or carborundum—are filled with playful energy and bold gestures. She has a deep respect for color, but also for the expressive power of black and white. Her experiments with different materials—such as sumi ink on xuan paper—highlight the unique challenges of working wet and her embrace of the medium’s unpredictability. Her marks seem to leap or dance across the surface, inviting viewers into a dynamic visual experience.
Arlene earned her BS in Fine Arts from CUNY Hunter College and continued her printmaking studies at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop and the Manhattan Graphics Center. Her work has been widely exhibited and has received numerous awards. She has shown at venues including the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC), Greenwich Art Society, Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts, 14C Art Fair, Blue Mountain Gallery, Prince Street Gallery, and Atlantic Gallery, where she is a member.
